Privacy policy: Glossary for Confluence
Last updated: November 8, 2026
Tewodros Assefa ("we", "us") makes Glossary for Confluence (the "App"), an app for Atlassian Confluence Cloud distributed through the Atlassian Marketplace. This policy explains what data the App handles and where it goes.
The short version
The App runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform. It has no servers of ours, makes no calls outside Atlassian, and sends us nothing. We cannot see your glossary, your pages or your users.
What the App stores
Inside your Confluence site's Forge storage (Atlassian-hosted, scoped to your installation):
- Glossary entries: term, definition, synonyms, labels, an optional link, status, created and updated timestamps, and the Atlassian account id of the last editor.
- Usage records: for each term, the ids of up to 200 pages where it appears and how often, produced by a daily scan.
- App settings chosen by your Confluence administrators.
What the App reads but does not store
- Page content, to find which glossary terms a page mentions. Pages are read with the viewing user's own permissions (or, for the daily scan and the byline count, with the App's read-only permission), processed in memory, and discarded. Page text is never saved.
- Group membership, to check whether the current user is a Confluence administrator before allowing site glossary changes.
What we receive
Nothing from the App itself. The App declares no external network access, so it cannot send data to us or to any third party. We have no analytics, tracking or advertising in the App.
Atlassian shares with Marketplace partners the information described in the Atlassian Marketplace terms (for example, the licensing contact and site for a paid licence). We use that only to provide support and manage licences. If you email support, we keep that correspondence to answer you.
Where data lives
All App data stays in Atlassian's Forge hosted storage, which follows the data residency location of your Confluence site. The App is built to meet Atlassian's "Runs on Atlassian" requirements.
Retention and deletion
App data stays until you delete it in the App or uninstall the App. After uninstall, Atlassian deletes Forge storage according to its platform retention policy. Support emails are kept for 24 months and then deleted.
Security
Access follows Confluence permissions: users only see matches from pages they can view, and only administrators can edit the site glossary or see usage counts. Inputs are validated, and logs contain counts, ids and error messages only, never page content or personal data. We follow Atlassian's Security Bug Fix Policy for Marketplace apps.
Your rights
Because the App's data lives in your Confluence site, your site administrators control it: they can view, export (CSV), change or delete any glossary entry. For data Atlassian holds about you, see Atlassian's privacy policy. For anything held by us (support emails, licensing contact), write to glossary-privacy@tewodros.me and we will respond within 30 days.
This website
This website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies and has no analytics. Its hosting provider may keep standard request logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Any change that would send data outside Atlassian would require a new App version that your administrators must approve first.
